Amy and Jason are so adorable and so in love. It made their engagement session a breeze to capture for them. We decided to do their engagement session in Bloomsburg by the Park and ended up at the West End Ale Haus I am looking forward to their May wedding next year at The Barn at Boones Dam
Amazingly this venue is just 20 minutes from our house and this was our first time shooting there. Ryan and Julia’s wedding took place at The Barn at Hidden Acres in Bloomsburg Pa. It is a beautiful old rustic barn set in a very private country setting. Their August wedding was a great day from start to finish. Julia and Ryan both got ready at the house at Hidden Acres. The ceremony was on the lawn under a lot of mature trees creating just enough shade for the guests to enjoy the heartfelt ceremony. After the ceremony we did some bridal and family portraits followed by intros at the reception. Here is a glimpse of Julia and Ryan’s wedding at The Barn at Hidden Acres.

The time has come to hire your wedding photographer. Most photographers have packages with set hours, so now comes the question, how much time will I need a wedding photographer on my wedding day?
Pre-Ceremony coverage – This is where as a photographer I get some of my favorite images. Because we offer two photographers in all packages we have one photographer with the bride and one with the groom. I suggest having the photographer begin before the bride gets into her dress. It is a great time to capture the brides details, jewelry, final touches on makeup etc. It is also a good time to get some portraits of the bridesmaids. It has become very popular for the girls to wear matching robes/outfits and this can often make a great photo opp. Typically this is an hour – 2 hours prior to the ceremony.
Ceremony - This is simple. How long is your ceremony? You want your photographer there for that.
Portraits – Formal family portraits typically take place directly following the ceremony. If it is a church wedding we take them all then, before family wanders off. This generally is 15-20 minutes. It can go longer if you have large families or would like more complicated combinations of the portraits. Bridal party portraits are done next then last we take care of the bride and grooms portraits. If there is a location different then the reception venue for portraits definitely add time. Just getting in whatever form of transportation you plan on using can be a process and is not always figured into the timeline.
Reception – Most of the time we do not stay until the very end of the reception. It generally just isnt needed. However there are exceptions, if you are planning a fun exit (sparklers family send off etc). Once formailites are complete (cake cutting, toasts, dances) you probably will not need your photographer anymore. Fun dance shots are nice to have, but you do not need to have a ton of those.
Our packages range from 5-10 hours. 5 hours work great when the ceremony and reception is all in one location. 8 hours works when there is multiple locations and more travel time. 10 hours is for the couple who wants every moment captured and may have significant travel times. Nick and Lauren were married in Hazleton with their reception at the Genetti. Lauren’s custom shoes were amazing and something out of a fairytale. After an emotion dad/daughter first look we got some portraits completed by the wedding decorations Lauren’s mom made to coordinate with the bridesmaids. The chuch was in Hazleton and we absolutely took advantage of all of the natural light flowing in! We got some great portraits at the Penn State Hazleton campus before heading to the Genetti to continue the celebration. We loved the slideshows that were played during the parent dances. What a great touch. As the party raged on we stole Nick and Lauren for a quick nigh portrait session. After we left the continued on behind the Genetti in the large tent. Here is a glimpse of Nick and Lauren’s wedding day!

Just moments before the engagement session was about to begin the skies opened up and down the rain came. We made the most of the rain and still managed to capture some fun portraits os Stephanie and Alejandro!
